Event: Sagarmatha Table Tennis Competition 2017
Date: Saturday 18 February 2017
Time: 10am start, Hall will be available from 9am for warm up
Venue: Brisbane Table Tennis Association, 86 Green Tce, Windsor
Categories: Men single, Men(45+) Single, Women single and Children single
Registration fee: Men and Women $10.00, free for children

Food and soft drinks will be available at a reasonable price.

NAQ Children’s Day 2017

Dear Community Members,
Namaste,

On behalf of Nepalese Association of Queensland (NAQ) Inc., we would like to invite you all to attend the NAQ Children’s Day 2017 on 21 January 2017.

The event detail is as follows:

Food and drinks: FREE for Children, Reasonable Amount for Adults.
Sponsors: Any sponsorship (from an individual or businesses) for this event is welcome.

Please register your child to participate in Children’s Talent show by 15 Jan 2017.

NAQ is also in search of a Child MC (Ideally 7-10 Yrs Child) to run the programme who will be guided by an adult at all times. If your child is interested to take this challenge, please submit expression of interest on behalf of your child by 15 Jan 2017.

NAQ’s Excellence Award 2016: Announcement for nominations

Dear Community members,

The incumbent NAQ Executive Committee has decided that the tradition of the annualNAQ Excellence Award will be continued and the academic and community service excellences from the community will be recognised and awarded.

On 23 August 2016, the NAQ administration has circulated an e-mail to the community on the formation of 2016 NAQ Award Committee in which we were given the responsibility for recommending 2016 excellence award recipients to the NAQ Executive Committee. By virtue of that responsibility, we are pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the academic and community service excellences to all ethnic Nepalese community residing in Queensland who are eligible for nominating candidacies to submit their nominations by the set deadline. This year the excellence awards will be given in the following categories:

1.    Academic Excellence Award

There will be four awards available in this category. The sub-categories of this award will be:

(a) High School Level award
A single award will be presented in this sub-category.
The award for this sub-category will be evaluated based on the academic achievements in Year 12 high school examination from Queensland in the period between 1st July 2015 to 30th June 2016.

(b) University Level award for bachelor’s degree
A single award will be presented in this sub-category.
The award for this sub-category will be evaluated based on the academic achievements in Bachelor Degree study from any Australian universities in the period between 1st July 2015 to 30th June 2016.

(c) University Level award for master’s degree
A single award will be presented in this sub-category.
The award for this sub-category will be evaluated based on the academic achievements in Master Degree study from any Australian universities in the period between 1st July 2015 to 30th June 2016.

(d) Doctorate degree award
This award will be presented to all ethnic Nepalese Queenslanders who have completed PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) degree from any Australian universities in the period between 1st July 2015 to 30th June 2016.

2. Community Service Award

A single award will be presented in this category.

The recommendation for this award will be based on the evaluation of the nominated person’s service to the community, motivation, attitude, integrity, selfless dedication for the welfare and goodwill of the community, contribution towards the development and propagation of Nepalese culture, heritage and language within the community and beyond.

For community service award category, the person can either self-nominate or any other Nepalese community member residing in Queensland can recommend a suitable person for the award. In case of any community member/s recommending the other person of the community for the award, the recommending person/s must give in writing why he or she is deserved to be recognised and awarded by giving a brief history of the contributions and sacrifices that the person has made to the community.

The self-nominating person for the community service award needs to provide his or her resume highlighting the contributions and the services that he or she has rendered to the community.

Each candidates filing nominations for the award has to fill in the prescribed nomination form which can be downloaded from the attached link (please click here to download the form). For academic excellence awards the prescribed form needs to be accompanied by other supporting documents/credentials such as Queensland High school result e.g. as OP score, GPA, other certificate/s and testimonials which will assist the selection committee in making unbiased and impartial judgement on their achievements.

The decision of the selection committee will be final and no complains will be heard or any actions taken on their decisions and integrity.

The due date for submitting the nomination form and the related documents has been set as COB Friday, 23 September 2016. 

The nomination form and the supporting documents can be emailed or hand delivered to any one of the under signed award selection committee members by the due date. The recipients of the awards will be announced at NAQ Inc. Dashain program which is scheduled to be held this year on Saturday, 8 October 2016.
